For thousands of years biomass has been burned to generate heat. Biomass burned for heat has produced steam power, and even more recently this biomass-fired steam power has been used to generate electricity. Do you know how to convert biomass into renewable energy? It is pellet making machine.

Application Range of Biomass Pellets
In general, there are four main directions that biomass pellets go.

1. Biomass Pellets to Heat
Biomass pellets can be burned through direct combustion to create heat.
2. Biomass Pellets to Electricity
It means that the biomass pellets are burned through direct combustion and the steam produced is used to turn a turbine which then produces electricity.
3. Co-firing Biomass
Co-firing biomass pellets involve mixing the biomass pellets with coal for combustion in a power plant designed for coal, which benefits include reduction in harmful emission like sulfur and mercury.
4. Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
CHP refers to the heat and steam, which is from direct combustion of biomass pellets, can be used to heat buildings or for industrial purpose.

New Scope to Play a Part in
As a leading role of the heating field, biomass pellets have been ongoing in public and private sectors to facilitate the lives of people to the best. And new fields for the application of biomass pellets have been in research and development. Of course, biomass pellets will never let you down. I’d like to illustrate two fields for you.

Gasification
Gasification involves heating the biomass pellets under pressure with about one-third the oxygen used for combustion to produce syngas, which is a mixture of carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The syngas can then be used in combustion engines and gas turbines.
Pyrolysis
Pyrolysis involves heating the biomass pellets in the absence of oxygen to produce a fuel oil.
